Winter Term 2013 - Week #5
Welcome to Winter Term Week #5! We are already ½ way through the term!
If you would like to schedule an advising appointment, please drop by or call the School of Psychological Science main office at 541-737-2311 to schedule an appointment. All Freshmen are advised in the College of Liberal Arts this year. All Sophomores are advised by Birken Noesen and Juniors and Seniors are advised by Teri Duever.
Happenings in Psychology:
- Before the term gets too intense… be sure you fill out the financial aid application for 2013-14 at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ Select “login” for returning user. Everyone recommends that you fill it out as early in January as possible. Since taxes aren’t finished at this point, you can use estimates and make corrections later. That is expected.

Here are some things you should remember for Winter Term:
- To change to or from S/U Grading: The deadline to change to or from S/U Grading is 5 pm Friday, February 22 – Remember, you cannot S/U any of your major courses and must get a C- or higher to pass the course if you S/U.
- Martin Luther King Holiday: Monday, January 21
- Dead Week: March 11-15
- Finals Week: March 18-22

Success Tips:
- Look Forward: Very soon, you and your advisor will be planning for next term. Understand that your advisor has a very full schedule. Scheduling an appointment now assures that you will get in to see your advisor before priority registration starts later in the term. If you need an external trigger to help you remember, week five usually falls near Halloween (Fall term), Valentine’s Day (Winter term), and Cinco de Mayo (Spring term). It is wise to see your advisor every term!
- It is important for all students to balance their academic lives with meaningful activities outside of the classroom. How are you spending your time when you are not in class or studying? Have you joined any clubs or organizations? Are you meeting new people and are you getting experiences that your classes don’t offer? You can learn about all of the available activities at OSU by visiting Student Involvement in 129 MU East (Snell Hall) or going to http://oregonstate.edu/studentinvolvement/
