Food Pantry Volunteer Training

We are now offering training for HSRC and OSU Emergency Food Pantry volunteers in the office between 9am and 4pm

Volunteer Training

We love our volunteers! If you are interested in volunteering for the HSRC and the OSU Emergency Food Pantry, please come to the HSRC offices (Snell 233) between 11am and 3pm to become trained and certified.

Volunteers will read through a powerpoint presentation and then will be expected to take a quiz. The passing grade for the quiz is 80%. If you fail a quiz, you are more than welcome to read through the presentation again and re-take the quiz.

After you have passed the quiz, a staff member will go over a volunteer contract with you. You will be expected to show up to the next food pantry 30 minutes early to get acquainted with the space.

Some things you should know:

  • The training and test will take between 30minutes and 60 minutes. Please come prepared to spend this much time on training. You must go through the training and the test all in one sitting.
  • We will no longer be training pantry volunteers during food pantry service dates. All volunteer training must be done prior and in the HSRC offices.
  • You don't have to just volunteer for the food pantry, you can do things within the HSRC too, however you will still be expected to complete a volunteer training.

If you have questions, please contact the HSRC at hsrc.volunteercoordinator@oregonstate.edu or hsrc.foodpantry@oregonstate.edu.
